Berlin Movie Review:

Alright, so this new movie Berlin might not actually whisk you off to Germany, but man, it sure feels international. The whole vibe? It’s got this weird mix of cool and kinda suffocating at the same time.

It just takes a turn to fall in love, and some moments together to make a friendship that will not only last a lifetime but for what type will compromise everything. Both aspects come to life in manager Atul Sabharwal’s thriller, Berlin. Headlined by Aparshakti Khurana and Ishwak Singh, both in their prime types, and a flawless Rahul Bose, the movie will remain with you despite it’s over, especially because of a really well-built climax.

Alright, so what makes a top-notch spy? According to this big shot Jagdish Sondhi (played by Rahul Bose), you need eagle eyes, super hearing, and to be in tip-top shape. But get this – the guy they suspect of being a German spy? He’s this skinny, deaf-mute dude named Ashok Kumar (that’s Ishwak Singh).

It’s 1993, Russian President Boris Yeltsin’s swinging by India, and there’s all this talk of murder and assassination plots. Enter Pushkin Verma (Aparshakti Khurana), just a regular teacher at a school for deaf kids. Poor guy gets roped in to question Ashok and, man, does he get more than he bargained for. The deeper he digs, the messier it gets – spies, bureaucrats, politicians, the whole nine yards. Really makes him rethink what being patriotic even means.

Now, here’s what’s cool about this thriller – it’s not your typical ‘India vs. the neighbors’ story. Nah, it gets into the nitty-gritty of office politics and agency rivalries. Shows how the bigwigs’ power games can totally mess up regular folks’ lives.

The folks behind the scenes? They’re bringing their A-game. The way they’ve put this spy story together keeps you on the edge of your seat. And get this – there’s this whole thing about trading info at a coffee shop called Berlin, using deaf people as ‘walls’. Pretty clever, right?

Ishwak Singh kills it, saying so much without actually speaking. And Aparshakti Khurana? He nails the ‘everyday guy in way over his head’ vibe. These two have this connection that’ll warm your heart… right before it breaks it. Oh, and Rahul Bose? Smooth as silk as this crafty agent.

Sure, the big reveal is a bit of a letdown, and you might see the twist coming. Some of the cat-and-mouse stuff in the office doesn’t quite land. But the world they’ve built, the way it looks, feels – man, it makes up for the small stuff. Bottom line? If you’re into spy flicks or just want something with a bit more meat on its bones, give Berlin a shot. It’s got its hiccups, but it’s still a solid watch.
